MUSICAMP Returns to the Garfield Theatre for it’s third year!
This summer we will present “Summer Camp – A Musical Caper about finding a place to belong” written by John Jacobson and Mac Huff and directed by Julie Lawrence and Rachel Craig.
The show will touch on every camp memory – from bugs and campfire stories to demanding counselors and feeling homesick.
This year we hope to have 30 campers participating in the daily camp. We meet Monday through Friday 9 – 3:30 and do a show on Friday evening!! It is an amazing and intense process that will thrill the audience. We often get the comment “How do you do all that in one week?” See for yourself on Friday 14 August at 7 p.m. at the Garfield Center for the Arts – or better yet – enroll someone you love between the ages of 8 and 15 and watch them sing and dance their way to being a confident performer.
MUSICAMP was developed by Julie Lawrence to give kids a musical theatre experience in ONE WEEK. During the week, every camper will learn lines, sing songs, learn basic stage terminology, paint the set, and do song choreography.
Registration forms can be found on the Garfield Center for the Arts website under ‘about….education and outreach’ or stop by (or call 410-810-2060) the Prince Theatre at 210 High Street in Chestertown for more information. The fee for the entire week in $180 and scholarship money is available. Early registration is advised as the camp fills quickly.
