Africa By America Day will celebrate cultural diversity by offering events throughout town, including: mask making at KidsSpot, African food prepared by Aaron Wesley at Chester River Cheese and Wine Company, a children’s drum and dance at Kent County Public Library; drumming class at Music Life, and a guest panel discussion at BookPlate bookstore along with a show at the Garfield during the evening

An all-day cultural and musical event takes place in several venues around Chestertown, Maryland on May 30. Festivities commence at 10 a.m. and go on until 10:30 p.m. with a half dozen events to choose from. All daytime events are FREE with the exception of a Food Tasting for $5.00. Then, we will finish the evening with our final Stage Show/Dance Party at 7:30 p.m. at the Garfield Center for the Arts. It will cost $25 general admission and $10 for students. “Africa by America Day” features the music of Egalitarian and the DINKENDO Family Band, the foods of Senegal and the Gambia, make-making, drumming demonstration, talk with Gambian dignitaries at the Bookplate, and a children’s dance/drum program at the library and craft, culinary, and musical activities for all ages.
