Our 15th WHW Concert will be our final concert. It will also be Maria’s 90th birthday! Last year, Maria retired and closed the clinic in Marydel. Those of you who have been with us for the entire journey of WHW know how far we’ve come. The concert has been a joyful celebration for our performers and the audience too.
We are grateful for a core group of “Angels” who have provided for the event both financially and with hands-on assistance. The Garfield Family has welcomed us with open arms and invaluable support each year. The Kent Cultural Alliance enabled our 501c3 status thereby making your donations tax deductible. Francoise Sullivan of Moo Productions has managed our Facebook page and the website for Women Helping Women gratis. Sue Matthews and Joe Holt have consistently gone above and beyond providing their talent and guidance bringing our production to the stage.
In response to the clinic’s closing, For All Seasons, Inc. created a new initiative geared toward the population Maria has served for over fifteen years. Named in her honor, the Boria Project expands the educational programs for the English and Spanish speaking community that For All Seasons already has in place across the mid-shore. Working with employers, local community groups, churches and other agencies, to ensure that all women are aware of their rights related to sexual harassment, sexual assault, abuse and most importantly that they know services are available 24/7 in all our mid-shore counties. Women Helping Women has been proud to work with For All Seasons, Inc. to bring educational awareness to all in our community. Our final fundraising efforts will support the Boria Project and the Maria Boria Berna Scholarship for a student pursuing a nursing degree at Chesapeake College.
Women Helping Women is sheltered under the Kent Cultural Alliance a 501(c)(3) non-profit.
100% of donations and 80% of ticket sales are used for the Dr. Maria Boria Berna Scholarship and For All Seasons, Inc., if you are unable to attend, please consider a donation. This year more than ever!!
For your tax deductible (501(c)(3) donations please make your checks payable to: Kent Cultural Alliance/WHW 2020, 203 High Street, Unit 2, Chestertown, MD 21620
The gift of women, the role of women, has always been the role of community. If you touch a woman, you touch a family, you touch a community, you touch a nation. It is my great hope that as women we will be able to stand our ground in the places we love and say, “This is not acceptable. This is what we will fight for, this is what we will fight against.” Terry Tempest Williams
