Get your deerstalker cap on — the play’s afoot! From multi-award-winning playwright Ken Ludwig, and the Garfield Center for the Arts, “Baskerville” is a fast-paced adventure about everyone’s favorite detective solving his most notorious case.

Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson must crack the mystery of “The Hound of the Baskervilles” before a family curse dooms its newest heir. Watch as these intrepid investigators try to escape a dizzying web of clues, silly accents, disguises and deceit as a small company of actors deftly portray more than 40 characters. Does a wild hellhound prowl the moors of Devonshire? Can our heroes discover the truth in time? Join the hilarious fun and see how far from elementary the truth can be.

Playwright Ken Ludwig’s work is well known in the theatre-producing world. He has had six productions on Broadway and eight in London’s West End. His 34 plays and musicals are staged throughout the United States and around the world every night of the year. They have been produced in over 20 languages in more than 30 countries, and many have become standards of the American repertoire.

His first play, “Lend Me a Tenor,” was produced on Broadway and in London by Andrew Lloyd Webber. It won two Tony Awards and was called “one of the classic comedies of the 20th century” by The Washington Post. His musical “Crazy For You,” which uses songs by Ira and George Gershwin, was on Broadway for five years and the West End for three, winning the Tony and Olivier Awards for Best Musical. Other standout play titles include “Moon Over Buffalo,” “Leading Ladies” and “Tiny Tim’s Christmas Carol.”

Director Marcia Gilliam has cast an excellent troupe of actors for the Garfield Center production, including Howard Messick as Sherlock Holmes and Matt Rein as Dr. Watson. Also in the Ensemble cast, with each actor playing between 7 and 15 roles, are Brian Moore, Macy Morris, and Kyleigh Young.

The Production Staff includes Director Marcia Gilliam, Stage Manager Sammie Mooney, Assistant Director Sophie Moen, Stage Crew members Allison Jones and Chris Mooney, Costumer Barbi Bedell, Set Designers Marcia Gilliam and Butch Clark, Set Builders Butch Clark and Benji Price, Sound Designers Tom Gross and Jon Hanbury, and Special Props Design and Builder Tom Lemm.

“Baskerville” opens April 19th and runs weekends through March 5th, with performances at 8:00 PM on Fridays and Saturdays and 2:00 PM on Sundays. Tickets are available online at www.garfieldcenter.org, or via Eventbrite, or may be purchased by stopping in or calling 410-810-2060 during Box Office hours on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays, from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM.
