Chester River Youth Choir “JOURNEY”
May 9, 2015 @ 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM
The Chester River Youth Choir returns to the Garfield Center stage for their second annual spring concert on Saturday, May 9th at 7 o’clock with their program entitled “Journey” that will take you on a trip around the world in music.
Admission is free, but a suggested $5 donation will be welcome.
The 22-voice choir will present a variety of songs that will take you from Wales to New Zealand with stops in Brazil, Canada, Japan, Israel, and Ghana, with a Spanish-American song thrown in.
The Chester River Youth Choir was created to give children of the Upper Shore a place to get training and experience in choral singing. The Youth Choir is open to all treble voiced singers ages eight to fifteen who can meet regularly at the Garfield Center’s Prince Theatre for Monday afternoon rehearsals. For more information, please inquire at the Garfield Center at 210 High Street in Chestertown. We welcome new singers in September and January.
CRYC is directed by Julie Lawrence. Sue Dick is the accompanist. Ken Schweitzer will play auxiliary percussion at the spring concert.
Our singers from both Kent and Queen Anne’s Counties show dedication to the vocal arts. Please support them in their efforts by being their appreciative audience!
Our next performances will be with the National Music Festival at Washington College as we sing at the Opening Concert on May 31and join in singing the Mahler 3rd Symphony on June 13th. We hope you can become a CRYC fan and attend all performances
The Chester River Youth Choir is supported by the Kent County Arts Council, the Garfield Center for the Arts, and the Chester River Chorale. If you would like to make a donation to CRYC, please do so at the Garfield Center.
