GCA AUDITIONS FOR RODGERS and HAMMERSTEIN’S “CINDERELLA”
Directed by Adrienne Wrona, Music Direction by JW Ruth, Choreographed by Suzanne Thuecks

This production seeks a diverse cast of performers, ages 14 and up. While character breakdowns include suggested ages, actors will be considered regardless of actual age if they are a strong fit for the role. The GCA will be presenting the 2013 Broadway version, featuring new characters and modernized themes.

The minimum age to audition is 14. While general age ranges will be listed for each character, actors do not need to match the character’s age exactly. Casting will focus on acting, voice, and dance abilities that fit the role and ensemble needs.

Auditions will include:

  • Singing – Prepare a song from the show (materials provided) or a similar Broadway-style piece
  • Cold readings (monologues & paired sides provided)
  • Dance combo (wear appropriate clothing and shoes)
  • Callbacks will be held for select roles on Sunday, September 7
  • FOR YOUR SONG AUDITION: An accompanist will not be provided but a keyboard will be made available for anyone who brings an accompanist. Singers may perform using a music track from their phones if their phone speaker can be heard from the audience, but a Bluetooth speaker will also be made available through the GCA’s WiFi. Do not bring accompaniment on a thumb drive as we cannot guarantee we will be able to access it. Singers should not sing along with recorded voices on their music track.

Lead and Featured Roles Include:

  • Ella (Cinderella) (female, 20s) – A kind, courageous heroine with an inner spark
  • Topher (male, 20s – early 30s)– A charming, sincere prince seeking purpose
  • Marie (female, 40s – 60s) – A beggar woman who transforms into the Fairy Godmother
  • Madame (female, late 40s – 50s) – The domineering and status-obsessed stepmother
  • Charlotte and Gabrielle (female, 20s – early 30s) – Two very different takes on the classic stepsister
  • Jean-Michel (male, 20s – 30s) – A passionate young revolutionary

  • Lord Pinkleton (male, 30s – 50s) – Sebastian’s right-hand man, the kingdom’s exuberant herald and master of announcements
  • A Dynamic Ensemble (any gender, age 14+) of townspeople, ball guests, knights, animals, and featured opportunities for puppeteers, dancers, and solo vocalists.
